MY PRE SEASON HOLLAND TRIP

Me and my dad left Falkirk at 6am on Wed 11 July 2007 to catch the 08:50 flight from Edinburgh airport to Amsterdan Schiphol. We had arranged to meet  Roy and Christina Little at Edinburgh after contacting them through the OneF Forum as they were also staying in Zwolle. We had planned to travel from Amsterdam to Zwolle together but had to change our plans because me and my dad wanted to tour the Amsterdam ArenA and it was only open on Wednesday but Roy had done the tour before. When we arrived at Amsterdam Schiphol we hired a car and my dad drove to the ArenA with me doing the navigating. Roy and Christina took the train to Zwolle.

When we arrived at the ArenA, the 12:45 tour was fully booked so we had to wait until 13:30, but we visited the Ajax Museum first to pass the time. In the Museum we watched highlights of Ajax's four Champions League victories and the four trophies were on display. We then toured the ArenA and I sat in the Ajax Managers seat in the press room. After the tour, we grabbed something to eat and then drove up to Zwolle which was an hours drive. Ten minutes after settling in our apartment, Roy and Christina turned up at our hotel. We went into the town to get a snack then we drove to Nieuwleusen for the match against FC Zwolle.

We arrived at the park at the same time as the Falkirk FC bus. Before the match, I got lots of pictures and autographs of the players. We drew 1-1 and Michael Higdon scored on his debut for Falkirk. After the game we drove back to our hotel in Zwolle and the four of us had a few drinks in our hotel before going to bed. Me and my dad had an early rise the next again day to get the train to Amsterdam at 07:40. We went to the Anne Frank House and waited in the queue to get in for 1 hour 10 minutes but it was worth it and very interesting. We had some lunch in Amsterdam and then got the train back to Zwolle at 14:00.

Later on that day, we drove up to Jelsum (which was about an hours drive) for the match against SC Cambuur Leeuwarden. Falkirk won 1-0 and Russell Latapy scored for us by chipping the keeper from 12 yards. When we were going back to Zwolle, we stopped in Leeuwarden for a McDonalds because I hadn't ate for 9 hours because there was nothing for veggie's to eat in Jelsum. On Friday morning we drove back to Amsterdam Schipol and flew back home to Edinburgh, got our bags then went to our home in Falkirk. It was a great trip and I really enjoyed it.
